SOLSTICE JOURNAL — SEPTEMBER ON THE CAPE

This Is Indian Summer The lunch boxes are packed, the beach bag hasn't quite made it to the attic, and for a few golden weeks, the whole Cape feels like it belongs to the people who actually live here.

There's a particular kind of week that only happens here, and only now. The kids are back in school, the ferry lines have thinned out, and yet the ocean's still warm enough to talk you into one more swim. Year-rounders know this stretch by heart: it's the reward for making it through July and August, and it never lasts quite as long as we want it to.

The routine is different too. Mornings have shape again — drop-off, coffee, an actual quiet hour before the day picks up. You can feel it all over town: the line at The Summer House has shrunk back down to normal, Side Door Bagels doesn't sell out before nine, and Puritan's and the other shops on Main Street have some great sales going right now. It's the same reason our own weekdays have opened back up — the whole Cape exhales a little in September.

We're taking advantage of that quieter stretch ourselves. Tabatha's deep into nursing school, sharpening her understanding of the human body to bring into her massage work. Laura Johnson is headed to Hawaii in October for an intensive Lomi Lomi training, and Sarah's off to Boston next week for CEO training — turns out the whole team believes in homework. And congratulations to Libby on stepping into her own chair as a junior stylist — off to a strong start, with gray coverage, lived-in blondes, and blowouts already becoming her specialty.

HAIR Hang On to Your Highlights Summer color doesn't have to end when summer does. A root shadow softens the grow-out line and a gloss brings the shine back, stretching your highlights straight through Indian summer without a full color appointment. If your hair's spent the season in chlorine and hard water, pair it with a demineralizing treatment — it undoes the damage before it undoes your color.

SKIN Fall Sports, Fresh Faces Between practice schedules and helmets and field hockey goggles, teen skin takes a hit this time of year. Our Clarify & Balance facial uses enzymatic exfoliation and mineral clays to refine texture and clear congestion — good timing before pictures and playoffs. For everyone else easing out of summer, the Brighten and Glow facial is the simple reset for that late-August dullness.

Jenn and Madi are fully stocked and ready for it — peels and dermaplaning on hand for a proper post-summer skin refresh.

Coming soon: watch your inbox for our Shed the Dead facial peel series — a few sessions, one noticeably brighter finish, right as the season turns.

MASSAGE A Weekday Just for You With the calendar finally breathing again, a midweek massage stops feeling like a stretch. Deep Tissue and Cupping are worth the maintenance now that there's actually room for them, and Deep Therapeutic has quickly become one of our most requested additions to the menu. Looking for the full reset? The Ultimate Massage Experience layers dry brushing, CBD-infused deep tissue work, and a Thai foot massage into one 225-dollar afternoon you'll be thinking about for weeks.

NAILS Beach Feet, Meet Their Match Ultimate Pedicure | Spa Pedicure | Russian E-File Builder Gel

The Ultimate Pedicure, complete with hot stones, is the reset your feet have been asking for since June — or go with the luxurious Spa Pedicure for that same unwind, a little more streamlined. Either way, pair it with Russian e-file builder gel for a clean, natural finish that holds up all season. Felicia's been outdoing herself with nail art on top of it lately — worth asking her what's new. Midweek mornings are quiet right now — easy to slip in right after drop-off.

RETAIL New In, and Going, Going, Gone Susan's CBD Bath Fizz is the easiest way to bring the spa home, and the CBD/CBG Arnica Butter is becoming a favorite for easing tired, sore muscles as the days get busier. Glo Skin Beauty SPF is still non-negotiable — the sun hasn't clocked out just because the calendar says September.

50% OFF — Bottom Shelf Hair Retail We're clearing space for new arrivals, and once it's gone, it's gone. Limited quantities, same professional favorites, beauty for less — while they last.

NEWS A Little Celebration of Our Own Solstice has been named a Top 3 finalist for Cape's Best Day Spa 2026, and we're headed to the Cape Cod Times Gala to celebrate. It comes on the heels of taking home Silver in Cape Cod Life Magazine's Best Of this year. None of it happens without you — thank you for making us your spot on the Cape.

Weekday appointments are wide open right now.
